CHABAS, PAUL
Paul Émile Chabas, 1869-1937, French academic painter. He is remembered chiefly for his nude, ‘September Morn’, which created a sensation when it was exhibited in 1912. It was sold to a Russian, hidden during the Russian Revolution, and in 1935 rediscovered in a private collection in Paris.
