DRIDAN, David C.
David Clyde Dridan was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1932 and studied at the South Australian School of Arts and Crafts 1949-50 and East Sydney Technical College 1956.
He travelled to London in 1961 and studied at the Victoria and Albert Museum under the auspices of a British Council Grant. He also studied at the London Polytechnic, the Tate and National Galleries and after further study in Europe and the United States of America.
He returned to Australia in 1962. From then until 1964 he was the keeper of paintings at the Art Gallery of South Australia and the senior art master at St.Peter’s College, Adelaide from 1965-68.
He established the North Adelaide Galleries in 1966 and since 1969 has divided his time between painting, holding private art classes at a studio in Clarendon, S.A. and viticulture. He was a member of the Commonwealth Art Advisory Board for many years.
David Dridan’s work is represented in many collections world wide including; HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, the State galleries of Western Australia and South Australia, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston, Tasmania and Rockhampton Art Gallery, Queensland.
