STEER, Howard & BLAHUTA, Paul

It is very rare for 2 artists egos to allow them to paint on the same canvases at the same time. The Blood Brothers are 2 Australian artists who do just that. Howard William Steer from Broken Hill and Paul Blahuta from Sydney met in 1994 and share a healthy enthusiasm for Australian historical themes They would like to add their unique joint perspective to interpreting important events in Australian history.

Both artists sign their joint efforts. It is ground breaking art. It is distinguished by, an enthusiastically applied thickness of paint. A fresh perspective, utilising the bright, harsh and vibrant colours that are unique to Australia.

Their recent exhibitions include:

“The Return of Burke and Wills”
(in recognition of the year of the outback in 2002.)
“Down Under” and “The Making of the Hill” (Broken Hill) completed in 2003, (to celebrate Broken Hill’s 120 years of Mining in 2003.)
“Paying the Kelly’s a Visit” (Ned Kelly and the Kelly gang)
“The First Australians”
“Shadows of Jack the Ripper” is their first attempt to depict historically significant International themes.
