Description
In Greek mythology, Icarus was the son of the master craftsman Daedalus. Trapped on the island of Crete, Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings from feathers held together with wax so they could escape by air. Before they set off, Daedalus warned his son not to fly too low, where the sea’s moisture would weigh down the wings, nor too high, where the sun’s heat would melt the wax. Filled with excitement, Icarus ignored his father’s advice and soared ever higher. The wax softened, the feathers scattered, and he plunged into the sea below, where he drowned. His story remains a timeless warning against pride, overconfidence, and ignoring wise counsel.
