He, therefore, became very successful and was even knighted by Queen Victoria in 1899. His paintings stood out for their rich detail and historical care. He brought ancient scenes to life with elegance and charm.
People still admire his work for its beauty, skill, and dreamlike view of the ancient world. Alma-Tadema died in 1912 in Wiesbaden, Germany.
