BALFOUR, Charlotte

Charlotte was born in Winchester, UK and studied Arts at Oxford and Sussex Universities. She then taught in London schools, and subsequently in Cairo.

Charlotte arrived in Australia in 1978, and in 1982 she was granted residential status because of her outstanding contribution to the Australian art world. Prior to the 2000’s she divided her time between the UK and Australia with exhibitions and commissions in both countries.

The rural landscape and individual buildings of South Australia have been the source of inspiration for Charlotte’s paintings. They show her creative attention to detail with a distinct and highly individual perception.
